Tradition and importance of the art of Tareekh Goi

Abstract

The art of "Tarikh Goi" is very prominent in our cultural and literary history. If we search in the course of history, the chain of this art goes back to the Assyrian and Babylonian civilizations which were later taken over by the literary traditions of Arabic, Persian and Urdu. The art of Tarikh Goi has been well received throughout the subcontinent. It was especially concentrated in those areas which were scientific or literary, cultural and political centers or were located in their vicinity. Ancient and classic Urdu Poets have left behind rare specimens of Tarikh Goi. In this article the authors tried to explain the history of Tarikh Goi.
